by admin on Jul.15, 2009, under candle holder
When decorating a room, using a fireplace candle holders can be a great way to add some elegance or a unique look to the design of the room. Traditionally, candle holders are only used on shelves and tables to add the décor and fresh scent to the room with scented candles. The fireplace candle holders and hanging candle holders add a unique touch to a room, hooking permanently to the fireplaces, and being made of all different materials to fit the fireplace color and room design.
Types of Fireplace Candle Holders
One type of fireplace candle holder is made of wrought iron, so that it is a black metal color. These can come in many different shapes and designs. For instance, there are some that hold the candles in a glass container in the middle of the wrought iron design. The glass container can be moved in and out of the holder so that the candle can be easily lit or changed when needed. The wrought iron part of the holder is shaped into a scroll work that curls up above the candle holder and below it, so that the candle itself is enveloped in the scrolls.
Another type of fireplace candle holder is made of a painted wood design so that it can come in a variety of different colors to match the room. The glass candle holders are also placed in the center of the design, but this time they are on a mini shelf. The back of these fireplace candle holders is flat, so that it is a flat, smooth backing behind the shelf and glass candle holder which looks sleek and elegant for a more modern design.
Fireplace candle holders can also come in shapes that mimic other things in real life. There is one fireplace candle holder that has a background of metal that is shaped into vines and flowers. This looks very beautiful when it is lit up by the candles that sit in front of it on a mini shelf and are in a glass container for easy lighting and refilling. Another example of this type of design is a metal fireplace candle holder that is shaped like a curling ‘S.’ The candle is placed in a glass container which sits on top of a stem that comes out of the curling bottom of the ‘S’ design. These fireplace candle holders are sleek and are a wonderful way to accent any room.

Adding Beauty to the Home: Votive Candle Holders
by admin on Jul.09, 2009, under candle holder
When decorating a home, there are different types of candle holders that are available on the market today, such as wall candle holders. The most common type of candle holder is the votive candle holder which is designed for the thicker, votive candles that individuals use not only to decorate their homes but also to add a fresh scent to them as well. These votive candles holders can be large or small to fit all sizes of votive candles, as well as coming in round or rectangular shapes to fit the different varieties of candles.
Votive Candle Holder Options
Votive candle holders that are made of glass give individuals a variety of options with their candle choices. Some of these votive candle holders are only a flat surface in a round or rectangular shape that helps to catch any wax that might fall off the side of the candle so that it does not get on the table or shelf where the candle is hosted. Others are a taller container in either a round or rectangular shape which the candle can slide into. These can be bought in a slightly larger size than is necessary for the candle so that colored rocks or other decorative items can be placed in the votive candle holder to add even more color to the candle or to change things up for the different seasons.
Besides glass votive candle holders, there are also holders that are made of metal material, such as a burnished bronze look. These can be flat or a container shape, such as mentioned above for the glass holders, but they can also come on legs so that the candle is lifted into the air. In addition, there are metal candle holders that will hold more than one candle at a time, often at different levels so that it creates a unique look for the room.
There are other votive candle holders that are made in decorative designs to fit the style of the room. For instance, there is a holder that has a square base and is filled with rocks. The center of the holder is a fountain, and around the fountain are four different candles, each standing at a different level. It is a unique combination of water and light that can add a certain peace to any room. There are also votive candle holders that have different designs on the sides of them, such as palm trees. Others are in the shape of the palm tree and have the candle resting on the top of it. There are also votive candle holders that are designed to be used for special occasions or holidays, such as a snowman candle holder for the winter months or a heart shaped candle holder for those romantic Valentine’s Day dinners.

Making Candles More Beautiful with Tealight Candle Holders
by admin on Jun.24, 2009, under candle holder
Candles are perfect for accenting rooms, giving off a gentle, warming glow. While they may last many long hours, they eventually burn out, and they need to be replaced. However, one part that you can use over and over again are tealight candle holders. Fashioned out of beautiful metals and glass, these timeless ornaments can be reused again and again. Better yet, there are tons of designs and styles to choose from, from rustic to urban, and they all further the startling impact of the candle on your room’s aesthetics. Not only are they classier than the simple metal holders that most tealight candle holders come in, but they aren’t as expensive as you might think either.
Every Design
Tealight candle holders are designed to be beautiful, durable, and inexpensive, all at the same time. Without a doubt, buying a wooden, glass, and metal lantern is one of the very most beautiful ways to decorate your house, and the only thing that you’ll need to replace is the tealight candle itself from time to time. A single purchase of $15 or $20 can immeasurably add to the beauty of a room. That you get choices of frosted and clear glass, painted, plain, or rustic metal, and a huge variety of woods to choose from, besides the designs of the tealight candle holders themselves, only adds to the wonderful customization before you.
With that said, tealight candle holders may not be for every candle lover. You might like to purchase a pillar candle holder and accompanying candles instead, which will last much longer. The main difference is that pillar candles don’t melt all the wax at once like tealight candles are designed to do, but beyond that, they’re simply much larger. They won’t be much brighter, but they will last weeks or months longer with regular use. Of course, those candles and candle holders also tend to be more expensive, so the cost for longevity ratio remains roughly equal as a result.
There are so many intricate designs available for tealight candle holders. Some would be absolutely perfect in quiet studies and libraries, while others would fit perfectly in kitchens. Others yet would work best in bathrooms, and some more might do better in bedrooms. Every combination of design, materials, and finish all serve some particular purpose, from utilitarian to elegant designs. That these candle holders only cost ten to twenty dollars is an added bonus, because compared to other ornaments of similar size and make, these are an absolute steal.
Beautifully Designed Rooms with Glass Candle Holders
by admin on Jun.23, 2009, under candle holder
Glass has been used by humans for thousands and thousands of years. Natural glasses, like obsidian, were used for making tools. Later, in the bronze age and beyond, people began experimenting with how to create glass on their own, and it’s been widely used since. Think about all of the things we use glass for – drinking cups, bottles, windows, vases, laboratory instruments, safety equipment, and many more. Especially with modern glass making techniques, glass can be a very durable material. Think about glass used in large acquariums, holding back millions of gallons of water, or in government buildings, where it’s designed to withstand all sorts of disasters. Glass candle holders might not have as important a purpose as withstanding earthquakes or bomb blasts, but they can still be used to house beautiful candles.
Different Types
Glass candle holders come in a variety of styles. Frosted glass is always classy looking, while clear glass allows you to view the candle in all its fiery beauty. You can even get different types of colored glass to give the light a unique feel to it. Glass candle holders are intensely beautiful, and as they are reinforced, they won’t break from the heat or fracture in any way. They’re even resilient to drops and similar accidents, so you shouldn’t expect them to break. Just because they’re stronger though doesn’t mean that you’ll end up paying more for them.
Most glass candle holders will only run you back five or ten dollars. Fancier ones with metal or wooden frames can cost twenty dollars or more, but the vast majority are not. However, you can also get glass candle holders with scrollwork or inlaid patterns which will cast shadows or pictures on outside surfaces for extra aesthetics. Some people just prefer plain candle holders though, which can save them a few dollars. Choosing which candle holder is right for your rooms is not a particularly hard choice, but it can be extremely satisfying to pick one out that perfectly complements your other decorations and furniture.
If you’re looking to be on the economical side, consider going with tealight candle holders instead. These can still be glass, but they will be much smaller than normal candle holders. Tealight sized glass candle holders are smaller and cheaper, and because they’re smaller, they might be less intricate. Of course, you can still get pretty detailed tealight holders, such as Oriental-style lanterns.

Having a candle holder with sides or completely enclosed holders can vastly increase the safety of lighting and burning candles. Romantic Lighting with Candles
by admin on Jun.19, 2009, under candle holder
Candles have been used for millenia since the glory days of the Roman Empire. They’ve almost always been used for lighting purposes, although they’ve also been heavily used throughout religion and, to a lesser extent, to tell time before mechanical clocks were invented. Nowadays, they’re mainly used for accent lighting, scents, and aromatherapy, adding a pleasant touch to any home. When you do burn them now, you should only burn them when you’re using them, because they don’t last forever. In fact, most candles have a maximum burn life of around 15 hours, with specialized products sometimes lasting up to 40 or so hours. Therefore, if you burn them everyday for an hour, most candles will only last about two weeks.
Precautions
Burning candles is always safe when done properly, so you just need to follow a few tips to ensure that safety. For unenclosed candles, stop burning them when they reach about 2 inches in height. Enclosed ones can continue burning until they are about half an inch in height. Why not continue burning until there is nothing left? Well, candles burn because they draw wax up through the wicks which in turn burns. If you just burned the wick, it would only last a minute or two at most. The wax is much slower burning and doesn’t create much smoke, if at any, often giving off pleasant scents in the form of water vapor. That’s why they smell so good in stores.
A candle holder can also make burning candles safer. They’ll be much less likely to tip over or spill hot, sticky wax. If wax does spill while enclosed, it’s simple and easy to clean up by just washing the holder out. Also, remember to trim the wicks to about a quarter of an inch each time you plan on lighting a candle. This makes the wax easier to soak up through the wick so that it can continue burning. Otherwise, you might start creating a lot of smoke, smoke that negates the pleasant scents or makes it even worse in the room.
With those precautions in mind, candles are fun to burn, and they can really make any room in your entire house more vibrant. They are perfect for romantic evenings or creating a gentle glow while you enjoy a nice, hot bath. You might not think of them for use in lighting, and while nobody is probably going to be reading by them, they are still great for making a warming glow throughout the house.
